Unmount an EBS Disk

<p>This article describes the instructions for unmounting an EBS disk, helping you understand how to unmount an EBS disk from an instance.</p> <p><strong>Prerequisites</strong></p> <p>You have mounted an EBS disk to an ECS instance and the status is <strong>Using</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Usage Guidelines</strong></p> <p>1.General-type and SSD-type EBS disks cannot be unmounted.</p> <p>2.Pay-per-month EBS disks created together with instances cannot be unmounted.</p> <p>3.When you unmount EBS disks, you must pay attention to the following things:</p> <ul> <li>For windows Operating System, it is suggested that before unmounting an EBS disk, you perform off-line operation for the disk in Disk Management.</li> <li>For Linux Operating System, you first need to perform &quot;unmount&quot; command for the disk in the ECS instance by modifying the corresponding configuration line under /etc/fstab/. Then you can unmount that disk from the instance.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Procedures</strong></p> <p><strong>Method 1:</strong></p> <p>1.Log in to the<a href="#https://yun.pingan.com/console/ecs/overview" target="_blank"> ECS Console</a>.</p> <p>2.In the left navigation pane, click <strong>Instance</strong> to enter the <strong>Instance Management</strong> page.</p> <p>3.Select the target region and click the name of target instance to enter the <strong>Instance Information</strong> page.</p> <p>4.On the<strong> Disk</strong> tab, in the operations column of the target EBS, click ︙.</p> <p>5.Click <strong>Uninstall</strong> and the <strong>Uninstall Disk</strong> dialog box will open.</p> <p>6.Click <strong>Confirm.</strong></p> <p><strong>Note</strong>: For Linux operating system, you first need to perform &quot;unmount&quot; command for the disk in the ECS instance by modifying the corresponding configuration line under /etc/fstab/. Then you can unmount that disk from the instance.</p> <p><strong>Method 2:</strong></p> <p>1.Log in to the<a href="#https://yun.pingan.com/console/ecs/overview" target="_blank"> ECS Console</a>.</p> <p>2.In the left navigation pane, click <strong>Block Storage &gt; Disk</strong> to enter the <strong>Disk Management</strong> page.</p> <p>3.Select the target region, and in the operation column of the target EBS click︙.</p> <p>4.Click <strong>Uninstall</strong> and the <strong>UninstallDisk</strong> dialog box will open.</p> <p>5.Click <strong>Confirm.</strong></p> <p><strong>Note</strong>: For Linux Operating System, you first need to perform &quot;unmount&quot; command for the disk in the ECS instance by modifying the corresponding configuration line under /etc/fstab/. Then you can unmount that disk from the instance.</p> <p><strong>Result</strong></p> <p>When the EBS disk is successfully unmounted, the status of the target EBS becomes Detaching on the Disk tab. Several minutes later, the disk status will become <strong>To Attach.</strong></p>
