Create an EBS Disk

This article describes the usage guidelines, limitations and procedures for creating EBS.

Usage Guidelines

Billing

For an EBS disk created together with ECS instances, the billing method is the same with that of the ECS instances. For example, if the created ECS instances are purchased by month, then it is the same case with the EBS disk created together. If the created ECS instances adopt a pay-per-use method, then it is the same case with the EBS disk created together.

The billing method for separately created EBS disks is pay-per-use.

Operation

Pay-by-month EBS disks created together with ECS instances cannot be mounted and unmounted.

General-type and SSD-type EBS disks cannot be mounted and unmounted.

For a single ECS instance that has been mounted with multiple EBS disks, it is not recommended to use LVM and other logic volumes. That’s because snapshots can only be created for a single EBS disk, and when LVM is in use, using snapshots to roll back EBS may cause data difference.

Limitations

1.Each ECS instance can be mounted with a maximum of 20 T of EBS.

2.Each ECS instance can be mounted with a maximum of five EBS disks.

3.The largest capacity for a single EBS disk is 2000 G.

4.Pay-by-month EBS disks cannot be created separately.

Prerequisites

1.Separately created EBS disks are charged in a pay-per-use way, and the account balance should be no less than 200RMB or coupons worth the same.

2.You have successfully created an ECS instance.
