Upgrade Specifications of a General Instance

This article describes how to upgrade the computing specifications and storage specifications of a general instance.

Overview

After you successfully create a general instance, you can upgrade the computing specifications and storage specifications of the general instance on the Capacity tab of RDS console.

Prerequisites

You have successfully created a general instance. For more information, see Create a General Instance.

Usage Guidelines

In the process of upgrading computing specifications, the connection between your applications and database may be interrupted and will be normally operated after reconnection. We recommend that you upgrade capacity in the time segment you set.

When the computing specifications of a general instance are upgraded, the computing specification of the citywide disaster recovery instance will be upgraded. If you create a remote disaster recovery instance, the computing specifications of the remote disaster recovery instance will be upgraded. In addition, the computing specifications of citywide and remote disaster recovery instances are identical with those of the general instance.

In the process of upgrading the storage specifications of a general instance, connection between applications and database will not be interrupted. Storage specifications of all instances created by your account including disaster recovery instances and read-only instances will be upgraded and are identical with those of the general instances.

After the capacity of the instance is upgraded, the instance will be billed by the new memory specifications. For more information about billing details, see Product Pricing.
