<p>This article describes how to create an RDS PostgreSQL instance and connect to it with a general RDS PostgreSQL client.</p> <p>For the purpose of security, Ping An Cloud currently does not support the connection to RDS PostgreSQL instance via the Internet. You need to create an ECS, install an RDS PostgreSQL client on ECS and access RDS PostgreSQL instances via RDS PostgreSQL client. The following figure describes the specific process:</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200207143516-15e0d743937f.png" style="height:295px; width:386px" /></p> <ol> <li><strong>Create an RDS PostgreSQL instance</strong>: You can create an RDS PostgreSQL instance in any region to meet business demand.</li> <li><strong>Create an ECS</strong>: Create an ECS in the&nbsp;same region as the RDS PostgreSQL instance.&nbsp;</li> <li><strong>Open a whitelist</strong>: Access to an RDS PostgreSQL instance by any network segment by default is not allowed. You need to open a whitelist for the RDS PostgreSQL to allow an ECS to access the RDS PostgreSQL instance.</li> <li><strong>Access an RDS PostgreSQL instance</strong>: Log in to the ECS based on the Internet IP of ECS and install an RDS PostgreSQL client on ECS. You can access the RDS PostgreSQL instance using domain name, port, username, and password that is set when you create the user.&nbsp;</li> </ol>
