This article describes how to degrade the computing specifications of a general instance.

Overview

After you successfully create a general instance, you can degrade the computing specifications of the general instance on the Capacity tab of RDS console.

Prerequisites

You have successfully created a general instance. For more information, see Create a General Instance.

Usage Guidelines

Currently only computing specifications can be degraded.

In the process of degrading computing specifications, the connection between your applications and database may be interrupted and will be normally operated after reconnection. We recommend that you degrade computing specifications in the time segment you set.

When the computing specifications of a general instance are degraded, the computing specifications of the citywide disaster recovery instance will be degraded. If you create a remote disaster recovery instance, the computing specifications of the remote disaster recovery instance will be degraded and identical with that of the citywide and remote disaster recovery instance.

After the capacity of the instance is degraded, the instance will be billed by the new memory specifications. For more information about billing details, see Product Pricing.

Procedures

1. Log in to the RDS Console.

2. In the left navigation pane, click RDS-MySQL to enter the DBPaaS for RDS-MySQL page.

3. Select the target region.

4. In the Operations column of the target instance, click Manage.
