Create a Remote Disaster Recovery Instance

This article describes how to create a disaster recovery instance.

Overview

To ensure high availability of business, we recommend that you create a disaster recovery instance within the period for maintenance you set. When the region where a general instance is located becomes faulty and cannot be connected to, the business can be switched into a remote disaster recovery instance for proper service running.

Prerequisites

You have successfully created a general instance. For more information, see Create a General Instance.

Usage Guidelines

1. A maximum of one remote disaster recovery instance can be created in each region.

2. Computing specification and storage specification of remote disaster recovery instance is consistent with that of the general instance.

Procedures

1. Log in to DDS Management Console.

2. In the left navigation pane, click DDS Cluster to enter the DBPaaS for DDS page.

3. Select the target region.

4. Click Manage in the Operations column of the target general instance, and select Information tab in Configuration Management.

5. In the right area of Information, click Create Remote Instance to enter the Create Remote Instance page.

6. In the Common Instance Information area, view and confirm the basic information of the general instance.

7. In the Remote Configuration area, create a remote disaster recovery instance based on the following information.

Configuration item

Description

Region

In the region where a remote disaster recovery instance is located, select the region different from that of the general instance.

Zone

The availability zone where a remote disaster recovery instance is located.

8. Click Confirm Order.

9. On the Order Confirmation page, confirm purchase information and click CONFIRM OPEN.

Result

Method 1:

1. On the Payment Result page, click VIEWORDER to enter the Order Management page.

2. The Status of target order is Finished.

Method 2:

In the left navigation pane, click DDS Cluster to enter the DBPaaS for DDS page. Select the region where a remote disaster recovery instance is located, and view the new DDS remote disaster recovery instance. The Instance Type is Dataguard Instance. The Status changes from Pending to Running.
