Background Information
Names for manual and automatic snapshots of Ping An Cloud follow the following pattern: disk name_yyyymmddhhmmss, for example,
ROOT-9222_20180813145400. Disks beginning with ROOT are system disks, and disks beginning with other letters are data disks. This article describes how to create snapshots.
Usage Guidelines
• You can create snapshots for system disks and data disks. We recommend that you avoid peak periods when creating a snapshot because this operation affects the I/O performance.
• The system retains the manual snapshots for a released disk. The deletion of the automatic snapshots for a released disk depends on the disk properties.
• There is a limit on the number of manual snapshots and automatic snapshots. A maximum of 20 snapshots are supported for one disk. Delete unnecessary snapshots as a best practice.
• For multiple disks mounted to a single instance, logical volumes such as LVM (Logical Volume Manager) are not recommended. This is because snapshots are created on a per-disk basis, and data differences will occur in snapshot-based rollback if LVM is used.
• As a best practice, do not create multiple snapshots with different login methods for the same data disk or system disk. For example, you have created four manual snapshots for the system disk, two of which are logged in with random passwords, one with a custom password and one with a key pair. In this case, if you want to roll back a snapshot, inconsistent login methods will cause login problems.
• You can create a snapshot for a disk that is only in Using state.
• The snapshot creation time increases as the size of the volume goes up. During the creation process, please be patient and do not repeat the operation.
Procedures

2. In the left navigation pane, click Dedicated Disk to enter the Disk page.
3. Select the target region, and then click Create Snapshot in the Operations column of the target disk.
4. Enter a description in the Create Snapshot dialog box that opens, and then click Confirm.
Result
You will see an Operation succeeded message at the bottom of the Create Snapshot page and the newly created snapshot on the Disk Information page
