Basic Concept

Region

A region refers to a data center that is geographically isolated from other data centers. Launching instances in different regions ensures high availability of applications and maximize stability of each region. We recommend that you select the region that is closest to your target customers.

Zone

A zone is a physical location that has independent power supplies and network within a region. It prevents your applications from being affected by failures in other zones. The network latency among instances is shorter within one zone.

Pod

Within the same data center, different pods have different infrastructures (including hosts, network devices, and power supply devices). A pod can be seen as an integrated unit that contains switches, servers, and storage devices. One pod contains a minimum of two sets of switches. Servers are connected to different switches to ensure high availability of service deployment.

Dedicated Instance

A Dedicated Instance is a basic computing service provided by Ping An Cloud. You can create Dedicated Instances on a Dedicated Host.

Host Type

The host type collectively refers to the specifications of a Dedicated Host, including the CPU frequency, CPU, memory, disk capacity, and disk type of the physical server. Select different host types according to your business scenarios.
