Roll Back EBS Disk from a Snapshot
<p class="shortdesc">If the data on an EBS disk is lost, you can roll back the data in the previously created snapshots to the EBS disk to restore the data by rolling back the disk. </p>

<ul class="ul" id="rollback__ul_tfw_j5n_slb">
<li class="li">You have created manual snapshots or automatic snapshots for the EBS disk, and no snapshot is being created. </li>
<li class="li">The EBS disk to be rolled back is not released. </li>
<li class="li">After the OS is reinstalled, historical system disk snapshots cannot be used to roll back the new system disk. </li>
<li class="li">If you have mounted the EBS disk to an ECS instance, you must shut down the instance before rolling back the disk. </li>

<section class="section attention" id="rollback__or1_35n_slb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Attention</h2></div>
<ul class="ul" id="rollback__ul_fkl_k5n_slb">
<li class="li">Rolling back disk is irreversible. Once a rollback is completed, original data cannot be restored. </li>
<li class="li">Rolling back disk will lead to the loss of data generated during the period from creating the snapshots to rolling back the disk. Perform this with caution. </li>
<li class="li">Snapshot data can be rolled back only to its source EBS disk. A rollback to another EBS disk is not supported. </li>
<li class="li">Before rolling back snapshots, confirm whether dependent resources exist. Otherwise, the rolled back snapshots still cannot restore complete information. Example 1: A user logs in to the cloud host with the key pair bound at t1 and creates snapshot s1, and cancels the key pair binding at t2 and logs in with the password. Then, the user deletes the key pair. At the moment, if the user wants to roll back to s1, it is impossible to log in to the cloud host with the key pair. Example 2: A user, with two network cards for an instance, creates snapshot s1, deletes the network card 1 at t2, and restores s1 at t3. In this case, the network card 1 cannot be restored through the snapshot. </li>

<span class="ph cmd">On the <span class="keyword wintitle">Disk Management</span> page, click the target EBS disk. </span>

<span class="ph cmd">In the <span class="ph uicontrol">Snapshot</span> area on the <span class="ph uicontrol">Disk Information</span> page, click <span class="ph uicontrol">Roll Back Disk</span> in the operation column. </span>

<p class="p">On the <strong class="ph b">Disk Management</strong> page, you can see that the EBS disk status becomes <strong class="ph b">Restoring</strong>. After 3 to 5 minutes, it turns into <strong class="ph b">Available</strong>, which indicates that the restoring succeeds. </p>
