Create an EBS Disk Separately with Snapshots

<p class="shortdesc">You can quickly create an EBS disk based on the snapshots of an EBS disk previously created. </p> <section class="section prereq" id="crsnapshots__prereq_vys_cp3_rlb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Before you begin</h2></div> <p class="p">You have created EBS disk snapshots. For more information, see <a class="xref" href="/ssr/help/storage/ebs/manual.managesnap.createsnap" target="_blank">Create EBS Disk Snapshots</a>. </p> </section> <section class="section context"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">About this task</h2></div> <p class="p">By creating EBS disk snapshots, you can save the data of the EBS disk of a specific time. In this way, when the data is lost or multiple EBS disks with the same data are needed, you can create one or more EBS disks through the snapshots. After the snapshots are created, the EBS disk contains the snapshot data in its initial state. </p> <div class="note note note_note"><span class="note__title">Note:</span> Separately created EBS disk with snapshots can be used only as a data disk and adopt the pay-per-use billing mode.</div> </section> <section class="section limitation" id="crsnapshots__cbr_w43_rlb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Limitation</h2></div> <ul class="ul" id="crsnapshots__ul_f5g_dp3_rlb"> <li class="li">You cannot change the type and capacity of the EBS disk separately created with snapshots. For example, if a snapshot used is a capacity EBS disk of 20 G, then the EBS disk created with the snapshot is also a capacity EBS disk of 20 G. </li> <li class="li">You can create a maximum of one data disk at a time when creating an EBS disk with snapshots. </li> </ul> </section> <section><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Procedure</h2></div><ol class="ol steps"><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">Log in to the <a class="xref" href="/console/ecs/overview" target="_blank">ECS Console</a>.</span> </li><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">In the left navigation pane, click <span class="ph menucascade"><span class="ph uicontrol">Block Storage</span><abbr title="and then"> > </abbr><span class="ph uicontrol">Disk</span></span>. </span> </li><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">Click <span class="ph uicontrol">+Create</span> in the upper-right corner.</span> </li><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">On the <span class="keyword wintitle">Create Disk</span> page, complete the following configuration.</span> <div class="itemgroup info"><img class="image" id="crsnapshots__image_evy_np3_rlb" src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200707171844-186da8ff98af.png" width="800"><ul class="ul" id="crsnapshots__ul_bbk_4p3_rlb"><li class="li"><span class="ph uicontrol">Region</span> and <span class="ph uicontrol">Zone</span>: Select the region and availability zone where the disk is located. <div class="note important note_important"><span class="note__title">Important:</span> EBS disks can be mounted only to ECS instances in the same region and the same availability zone. Once a disk is created, you cannot change the availability zone of the disk. Select the zone with caution.</div></li><li class="li"><span class="ph uicontrol">Disk</span>: Click <span class="ph uicontrol">Create EBS with snapshots</span>. On the “Choose Snapshot” page, tick the corresponding snapshot and click <span class="ph uicontrol">Confirm</span>. <div class="note note note_note"><span class="note__title">Note:</span> <ul class="ul" id="crsnapshots__ul_tps_rp3_rlb"> <li class="li"> <p class="p">If you have selected the region, availability zone, and disk type, snapshots on the “Choose Snapshot” page will be filtered according to the selected availability zone and disk type. </p> </li> <li class="li"> <p class="p">After you select the snapshot, snapshot capacity will be automatically filled in the disk capacity and cannot be modified. Only one disk can be created at a time with snapshots. </p> </li><li class="li"><span class="ph uicontrol">Instance</span>: Click <span class="ph uicontrol">Select Instance</span>. Confirm the information, and then click <span class="ph uicontrol">Purchase</span>. </span> </li><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">On the <span class="keyword wintitle">Order Confirm</span> page, click <span class="ph uicontrol">Confirm Open</span>. </span> </li><li class="li step stepexpand"> <span class="ph cmd">After you make the payment, click <span class="ph uicontrol">Management Console</span> to go back to the <span class="keyword wintitle">Disk Management</span> page. </span> </li></ol></section><section class="section result" id="crsnapshots__result_skj_5p3_rlb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Results</h2></div> <p class="p">You can see the EBS disk just created on the <span class="keyword wintitle">Disk Management</span> page.
