<p class="shortdesc">When creating an ECS, you need to create a system disk or a data disk. </p> <section class="section context"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">About this task</h2></div> <p class="p">When creating an ECS instance, you need to configure the disk. When you create an ECS instance, a system disk of 60 G will be created by default (if your operating system is Windows Server, you will receive a system disk of 60~120 G). Meanwhile, you can create a maximum of five data disks based on your needs. </p> <p class="p">The billing method of the EBS disks created while creating ECS instances remains the same as that of the ECS instances. For example, if the ECS instances created are paid by month, then the EBS disks created at the same time are also paid by month. If the ECS instances created adopt the pay-per-use billing method, then the EBS disks created at the same time also adopt the pay-per-use billing method. </p> <div class="note important note_important"><span class="note__title">Important:</span> <p class="p">If the ECS instances created choose monthly subscription, then the capacity of the data disks created thereupon can be expanded, but cannot be mounted or unmounted. If you need to create a data disk, click <span class="ph uicontrol">+Add a data disk</span>, and then select the disk type, capacity, and quantity.
