Unmount an EBS Disk

<p class="shortdesc">When an EBS disk does not need to be mounted to an ECS instance, or an EBS disk needs to be unmounted from one ECS instance and mounted to another, you can unmount this EBS disk. </p> <section class="section prereq" id="uninstalldri__prereq_urj_bt3_tlb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Before you begin</h2></div> <ul class="ul" id="uninstalldri__ul_ers_f5m_slb"> <li class="li">You have mounted the EBS disk to the ECS instance as a data disk, and its status is <strong class="ph b">In-use</strong>. </li> <li class="li">When you unmount an EBS disk, finish the following operations under the operating system. Otherwise, the ECS instance may become unidentifiable when you mount the disk again. <ul class="ul" id="uninstalldri__ul_utp_h5m_slb"> <li class="li"><strong class="ph b">Windows system: </strong>Execute offline operations in the<strong class="ph b"> </strong><span class="ph uicontrol">Disk Management</span>. <img class="image" id="uninstalldri__image_atc_s5m_slb" src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20200707171848-165198479265.png" width="800"></li> <li class="li"><strong class="ph b">Linux system: </strong>Run the unmount command on the disk in the instance first, and modify the corresponding configuration under /etc/fstab file. Then, unmount the EBS disk from the ECS instance after the command is executed successfully. </li> </ul></li> </ul> </section> <section class="section context"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">About this task</h2></div> <p class="p">Unmounting an EBS disk will not erase data on this disk. </p> <div class="note important note_important"><span class="note__title">Important:</span> <p class="p">The EBS disk to be unmounted can only be a data disk but not a system disk. </p> </div> </section> <section class="section attention" id="uninstalldri__svp_d5m_slb"><div class="tasklabel"><h2 class="doc-tairway">Attention</h2></div> <p class="p">To ensure the completeness of data stored on the disk, make sure no program is reading data from or writing data to the disk before you unmount it.
