Architecture

DMS supports unified management of multiple databases and enables you to query, create, and modify data.

Service Layer

The DMS service layer provides interfaces for SQL operation and command line operation. For more information, see Execute a SQL Statement in SQL Operations and Execute a SQL statement in Command Line Operations.

DMS nodes are stateless and can be linearly scaled to ensure high reliability and availability.

Scheduling Layer

This layer performs data import and export and supports the following scheduling modes:

Real-time scheduling—After you perform an operation in the DMS console, the system executes the task immediately and generates result in seconds. This scheduling mode is used in interactive SQL operations and CLI operations.

Periodic scheduling—The system periodically obtains the data requested by the user, and centrally schedules service data of tasks. An application example of this mode is database export.

Connection Layer

As a key component for data access in DMS, the connection layer processes RDS MySQL, RDS PostgreSQL, and DDS requests. This layer also controls the number of connections per instance to prevent an instance from using too many connections.
