Initialize Disk

<p><strong>Disks in Windows ECSs need to be manually initialized before they can run normally.</strong></p> <p>The operation steps are as follows:</p> <p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Open the Server Manager.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143616-1a4fcb499a2e.png" /></p> <p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If the status of the disk is offline, click <strong>Online.</strong></p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143623-16cf276e9ac6.png" /></p> <p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Click <strong>Initialize Disk</strong></p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143628-1fadb8b89b7b.png" /></p> <p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Use the default MBR partition.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143634-1b576c5d9887.png" /></p> <p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Click <strong>New Simple Volume.</strong></p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143639-1454387595d1.png" /></p> <p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In the New Volume Wizard, click <strong>Next</strong>.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143644-11bb52d595f9.png" /></p> <p>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Specify volume size and click <strong>Next</strong>.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143650-1291eb6398ca.png" /></p> <p>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Assign a drive letter and click <strong>Nex</strong>t.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143656-1d2e7a6d9b3c.png" /></p> <p>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Format the disk and click <strong>Next</strong>.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143703-1a7735fb90b4.png" /></p> <p>10.&nbsp;&nbsp; After the formatting, the disk is created.</p> <p><strong>Note:</strong></p> <p>For Windows Server 2012 R2 ECSs, you can right-click the logo of Windows, click <strong>Disk Management</strong>, and then perform the above steps.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143806-1c845d7a9c89.png" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>For Linux ECSs, disk initialization is also needed.</strong></p> <p>After logging on to an ECS, use the Isblk command to view the disk list.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143850-10daf42a9c2d.png" /></p> <p>You can see there is no information on the disk just purchased under the mount point. Therefore, we need to mount the information manually. The following illustrates how to mount a disk under the&nbsp; directory /data.</p> <p>1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Create a directory named /data and then start to initialize the disk. Create a physical volume (PV) using the pvcreate command.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143855-1253ddf295e2.png" /></p> <p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After the PV is created, create a volume group (VG) and add the vdb disk to the VG.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143859-140904ad9b8f.png" /></p> <p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Then, activate the VG.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143905-1341f8a794e0.png" /></p> <p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After the VG is activated, create a logical volume (LV) in the VG.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202143908-1c1f63469090.png" /></p> <p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As shown in the screenshot above, we have created a lv named LVdata in VolGroup01, and now we need to format the LVdata.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202144143-14e1602f914e.png" /></p> <p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After the formatting, mount the disk under the directory /data.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202144150-12b613cd961e.png" /></p> <p>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Then, use the lsblk command to see that the disk has been successfully mounted.</p> <p>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If you want the disk to be mounted automatically upon starting the ECS, the mounting information need to be entered into the /etc/fstab file. Enter vi /etc/fstab command to edit the fstab file.</p> <p><img src="https://obs-cn-shanghai.yun.pingan.com/pcp-portal/20181202144156-12934d469118.png" /></p> <p>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Add the information on the disk under the mount point to the end of the file and save the file. Now, the disk initialization is completed.</p>
